Record tonnage at the Port of Castellon

The Port of Castellon has exceeded 21 million tonnes of goods handled during 2021, a new record that exceeds the figure achieved in 2018 and improves the traffic records prior to the Covid-19 pandemic.

At Noatum Group we are very proud to have contributed to consolidating the Port of Castellón as a benchmark in the Mediterranean. Specifically, Noatum Terminal Castellón handled the following cargo volumes in 2021:

  • Bulk Cargo: 1,957,538 tonnes.
  • General cargo: 54,390 tonnes
  • Containers: 43,744 containers

The milestone of exceeding 21 million tonnes handled was marked with an event that brought together 21 representatives of the Castellón port community at the Cerámica quay, including Rafa Simó, president of the Castellón Port Authority. On behalf of the Noatum Group, Oscar Magdalena, director of Noatum Terminal Castellón, was present.

Noatum’s terminal in Castellón is a multipurpose terminal that offers comprehensive container, unitized and project cargo services, as well as solid and liquid bulk cargo.

In its commitment to continue optimising operational flows and to manage with excellence the growing increase in the volumes transited in the North Basin, Noatum Terminal Castellón has acquired a new crane model LHM550, with a load capacity of 144 tonnes and an outreach of 54 metres, which will arrive at the port in the coming months. This equipment will allow the terminal to continue to improve the excellent performance of 2021.
