The first Spanish company in joining the network<\/span><\/h4>\n

Marmedsa Noatum Maritime has been accepted as new member of the\u00a0Maritime Anti-Corruption Network<\/a>\u00a0(MACN). This milestone has been achieved thanks to the company\u2019s commitment to continuous improvement of its crime prevention model and due to the fulfilment of the seven principles required by the organization, which are an essential requirement to join the network.<\/p>\n

Those principles are: Development of a compliance model, establishment of polices and procedures to develop said model, implementation of a risk-assessment method, availability of training programs, monitoring of the proper functioning of the model, implementation of a system for recording internal complaints and successful completion of a Due Diligence by MACN.<\/p>\n

By joining the Association, members commit to take part in the different working groups aimed at sharing best practices, Incident Management Systems, awareness campaigns and collective actions. After joining the network, Marmedsa Noatum Maritime, together with other MACN members, will take an active part in collective actions in the countries where it is present.<\/p>\n

Jordi Trius, Director-General of Maritime Services at Marmedsa Noatum Maritime, stated \u201cbecoming a member of the Maritime Anti-Corruption Network (MACN) will allow us to keep learning and share know-how with other members in our fight against corrupt practices, taking an active part in international working groups. In Marmedsa Noatum Maritime we firmly believe that, in order to change certain environments, one cannot act alone\u201d.<\/p>\n

Juli\u00e1n Tapias, Director-General of the International Unit of Marmedsa Noatum Maritime, adds \u201cAt present, the MACN already has great impact in how business is done and services are provided in our industry, but above all, it is defining how it will be done in the near future. Joining this organization will allow us to align ourselves with the main international companies in the maritime sector and become a reference in the field.\u201d<\/p>\n

In April last year, Marmedsa Noatum Maritime already attended the annual meeting of the MACN, held in London, from which it extracted very interesting conclusions and ideas that have been gradually implemented in the company\u2019s daily management.<\/p>\n

MACN is a global business network oriented towards the vision of a maritime industry free from corruption and allowing for fair trade for the benefit of society. Founded in 2011 and formalized in 2012, MACN is composed of shipping companies of the main sectors of the maritime industry, as well as other service suppliers.<\/p>\n

MACN and its members promote good corporate practices in the maritime industry to deal with problems such as bribery, extortion and other forms of corruption. In addition, MACN cooperates with key stakeholders, including national Governments and International Organizations, such as the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), to identify and mitigate the causes of corruption in the maritime industry.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
